Some words to my person
I grew up in Balzers, Liechtenstein, where I visited the elementary and grammar school (I had to learn Latin!). After travels to Turkey and Central America (1986), I moved to Basel for studies in biology. I finished the University with a Doctor of Philosophy in plant physiology. My interests were focussed on the evolution of host/parasite systems, ecology and epidemiology. Interestingly, evolutionary and behaviourally biology shares many thoughts and theoretical approaches with economical sciences.
Following my studies, I did a post-doc at Novartis/Syngenta Crop Protection, where I developed real-time PCR diagnostic tools for the detection of fungicide resistance. Next postition was at a consultant company, where I was confronted for the first time with the registration of agrochemicals and biocides in the EU – a complex task! With this knowledge, I decided to join Syngenta in Basel, with my first position as Dietary Safety Assessor, and later as European Regulatory Manager. I left Syngenta at my own request and was looking for a position as Reg Manager in APAC (Asia Pacific), however this plan was not successful (may be in the future?).
After a sabbatical in Asia, I joined Dr Knoell Consult Switzerland (2008) where I work again as dietary safety specialist. My tasks here include the preparation of dossiers for the registration of pesticide active substances and products (EU, CODEX), data gap analyses, interpretation of new guidelines and post-submission support. Besides, I prepare and provide teaching courses in the fields of analytical methods, metabolism, residues and consumer risk assessment. I am member of an interdisciplinary team of residue and toxicological specialists where my focus addresses the developments in the field of cumulative and probabilistic risk assessment.
In my spare time I like the fresh air, either by running, hiking or cycling, the nature here is wonderful. I also spend some time in web programming and keeping myself updated in ongoing trends. Photography and hand-work are also components of my work-life balance. Last but not least I like to enjoy a guiness with my friends.
